THIS IS HOW SIMPLE IT IS TO TURN PLASTIC BOTTLES INTO FIBERS
When we were initially introduced to recycled polyester fibers, we were wondering about the process. Is it really possible to turn bottles into fibers without using chemicals? And are these fibers really more sustainable than new polyester fibers?
We always make sure to check the process of a fiber on-site ourselves, and recycled polyester is not exception. We went to see one of our suppliers in South India, and got confirmation that the process really is a lot more sustainable than conventional polyester production, and we were happy to see that no chemicals are used in the transformation process. The bottles are made into flakes mechanically and gravity is used in the coloring process instead of the usual chemicals. All bottles used in the process are post consumer trash collected locally.
All this and a lot of other topics are what we are looking into when we are sourcing our fibers and production units - because we are made to make a difference.
This movie is taken on-site, showing a part of the process.
